How it works
Counts the elapsed time between two dates in days, weeks, months, and years. Useful for contract terms, notice periods, project timelines, and interest accrual windows.
Formula
Days = (Date₂ − Date₁), converted to whole days
Variables
Date₁the earlier dateDate₂the later date
Worked example
Inputs: 2026-01-01 to 2026-08-17
- January to July inclusive: 31+28+31+30+31+30+31 = 212 days
- Plus 17 days in August: 212 + 17 = 229
Result: 229 days (32 weeks and 5 days)
Notes
- Decide whether the range is inclusive of both endpoints. A 1st-to-8th booking is 7 nights but touches 8 calendar days.
- 2026 is not a leap year. Ranges spanning 29 February gain an extra day.
